Trump added worries for IT and Pharma stocks.
The Sensex gained 82.84 points to 27117.34
Nifty gained 42.15 points to 8391.50
Hindalco Ltd gained 6.06% to 182.05

Top Gainers:
Zeel by 3.61% to 484.0, Idea Cellular by 2.8% to 73.5, Grasim by 2.41% to 884.1, HCL Tech by 2.38% to 858.75.

Top Losers:
ICICI Bank lost 2.32% to 257.35. Infratel by 1.57% to 347.65, L&T by 1.54% to 1393.0, Axis bank by 1.28% to 445.0, Sun Pharma by 1.18% to 633.95.

Metals stocks hogged limelight on hopes of rising global demand. The Nifty Metal index gained nearly 3% as Hindalco Industries was up 6% and Tata Steel rose 1.55%. Lupin gained 1.2% as the pharma major has received final approval for its Paroxetin extended release tablets that are used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Markets in Europe were lower today after US President Donald Trump took office and promised to pursue a protectionist policy. France's CAC, Germany's DAX and Britain's FTSE were up around 0.4% at the time of writing this article. Asia ended mixed.

Stocks to Watch: Uflex Ltd is on up side while Axis Bank Ltd is on down side.
